How to store your jewelry?

As exposure to air tarnishes it, storing jewelry in airtight plastic bags with anti-tarnish strips is a great preventative measure. Please make sure you don’t store multiple jewelry pieces in the same bag as individual pieces can scratch each other. Link or chain bracelets should be kept unclasped or unhooked to prevent scratching as well. If you can’t use zip lock plastic bags, try to ensure that the storage area has low humidity. You can also place a piece of chalk, a packet of activated charcoal, or a container of silica gel in the storage area to minimize tarnish. Nile Jewel Designs Gold-Filled and Sterling Silver jewelry comes with an anti-tarnish tab, cleaning cloth (for necklaces only), storage box and jewelry pouch and stone bracelets comes with storage box and soft cleaning cloth.

How to care for your Sterling Silver jewelry:

  1. You can avoid tarnish by wearing your jewelry often. The oils in your skin will clean the silver and keep it looking shiny.
  2. Avoid exposure: Contact with household chemicals, rubber, chlorinated water, or any substances which contain sulfur (e.g., mayonnaise, eggs, mustard, onions), will cause corrosion and tarnish.
  3. Remove silver jewelry when doing household chores.
  4. Direct sunlight also causes silver to tarnish, so be sure to take off your silver jewelry before you go swimming and sunbathing. Each of Nile Jewel Designs necklace jewelry comes with a non-chemical cleaning soft cloth.

Lotions, cosmetics, hair spray and hair products, and perfumes will accelerate tarnishing. So, always remember to wear jewelry last.

How to care for your Gemstones and Swarovski crystals?

Our gemstones are genuine mineral stones that are highly valued for their beauty, longevity, and rarity. We use a variety of semi-precious stones such as Topaz, Tourmalines, Citrine, Swarovski and many more. These are either Cabochon stones which are cut like smooth domes or faceted stones which are the flat faces on geometric shapes. These gemstones were hand-wire-wrapped individually.

Lukewarm, mild soapy water is the best method for cleaning gemstones and crystals. The use of ultrasonic and steam cleaners is not recommended. Excessive heat may cause the stones to fracture. Thus, handle your precious jewelry with care and love.

How to care for your Stone bracelets (Tiger’s Eye, Hematite, Sodalite & Lava bead)

We recommend to wipe your bracelet with a non-corrosive soft cloth. Our bracelets come with a soft cloth which is safe to be used daily to clean your bracelet.
